Description

This module is designed to introduce key principles of nuclear science, engineering and technology, in the context of applications, including: Energy from nuclear reactions; Diagnostics and therapy in medicine; Radioactive waste treatment and disposal; Nuclear defence and non-proliferation; Radiation protection. These topics will be studied in relation to their socio-economic and environmental impact. The module will be taught primarily through lectures and inquiry based case studies, with contribution from external experts.
